We received an e mail from a member of the public regarding a sad and neglected Canary that sat in a small cage in the window of Turkish Instanbul Barbers shop in the High Street of Bognor Regis. Apparently it was in direct sunlight and faeces covered the cage plus there never seemed to be water in the bottle. We were told about the lack of correct food for it and there was black mould on the bottom of the cage. The person who contacted us had kept a really good record of this neglect and had contacted RSPCA etc who were not interested. One of our rescuers attended and discussed the matter with the shop owner offering to take the bird from them, but the shop owner wanted money for the bird and in the transaction it went from £100 to his offer of wanting £250 so we therefore paid, to at least rescue the bird from its life of neglect, it is now happy in its new home.
