LAND AT EAST WITTERING AND SLOW WORMS

We got an e mail from a man concerned about a small piece of land next to the COOP at East Wittering, he had seen planning permission for the site and an ecologist on a survey before, had found 100 slow worms living there. So obviously he was worried about them. Jaine and Simon attended to look at the area, and afterwards Chichester District Council Environmental Strategy was contacted. They did know about the site and the slow worms and have told us that although the site has been bought, a planning application was refused, but sadly upheld at subsequent appeal. We have told our informant to contact the Police and us if work started there clearing the undergrowth.
