Our ladders could not reach a pigeon stuck in netting high on a building in the centre of Chichester, so we called the Fire Brigade, who arrived within half an hour.
A large crowd gathered near the Market Cross and clapping and whistling could be heard as the fireman successfully cut the bird free.
It is now recovering at Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital.
