Press Release June 2019: Herring Gull Shot

A lady going past on the beach saw an injured gull and took it to West Beach Cafe, Littlehampton for assistance, where it was put in a box. Liz and Matt Courts who run the cafe contacted West Sussex Wildlife Protection and one of the volunteers collected it taking it to Alphapet Vets at West Meads, Bognor, where it was euthanized due to its injuries on head and wing, it was later discovered on Post Mortem it had been shot.

West Sussex Wildlife Protection have reported this Wildlife Offence to the Police as Herring Gulls are fully protected and on the Red Endangered List. They also ask that members of the public contact Police if they see anyone shooting Wildlife.
